So i went for the Austswim Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety course which started on the 18th and ended just today, 19th, from 8.30am to 5.30pm both days.
You know when you are in the room. In the beginning, it was kind of awkward because you don't know anyone of them there (actually knew 2 girls from CPR course on Friday night). So as time goes by, people start to get around, chit chat a bit. As to me, i still feel kinda of out of place, one, because i don't know what to talk about, and what they talk about, I really have no idea about it.
It's an incredible experience. There were people from Uni, a girl from high school, just Year 10, but she is a really capable girl, planned good lessons, fun and we felt enjoyable. A lady who worked as a water police and has really whole load of experience in water safety and teaching small kids! One who actually become disabled after she met a car accident. Ladies who have lots of experience teaching. One doing martial arts. Yeah, pretty cool huh. Surprisingly, there was only one guy, a really tall guy, yeah a really really tall guy. When we were doing some stretching, he could actually touch the ceiling. OMG.
The lessons were really fun. When i heard that we have to do three micro lesson plans, i was kinda frightened. But when i was at the spot, my group members simply make me feel so comfortable and we had real loads of fun! Laughing, doing stupid things to actually try to disturb the "instructor" (we were the instructors).
Before i went back, i managed to get some contact details from them, I don't know why i did that, but those Australian people don't do it that way. I wonder why.
Ha, one fun thing is, when we were delivering our micro lesson, one of them at that time was, "signaling for help". One of our group members actually shouted really really loud---HELP!!!!
OMG, i assure you, at that time, you just wish that you could find a hole and go into it. It's damn damn damn embarrassing. The life guard actually looked at us for around half a minute. OMG. That was fun though, getting those experience that you would probably never get in your life.
I am still learning to listen and understand Australian accent, it's quite hard to me, as i come from a chinese-speaking background. I am still learning. I wish people would just talk to me in English. You know, the total number of chinese from Malaysia, and people from China. Argh, you wouldn't want to know.
Okay, i would say that the above course i have done wouldn't be an insane thing that i have done. It's actually really beneficial. I like water, i like swimming, and i wish i could teach those cute little people one day. Can't wait lar. But sometimes, it's kinda contradicting. There are times that i don't want to talk much, to be passive. Em, so how this thought comes about? Weird. I just like those small people. It's quite scary though, for me as an inexperienced swimming teacher.
The insane thing that i did last night is, a MEGA SWIM24HOUR volunteering program, from 11pm to 6am. Holly shit. The first time i yawned that night was at 11.35pm. Ha, pretty fast huh. But i managed to keep myself awake until 4.35am. At that time, i started to feel a little bit sleepy but of course i was still fine.
So what i did to occupy myself. I walked around, looking at those people, wondering, ha, would it be possible to join them next year, (AGAIN a crazy idea). Surprisingly, they were really people kept swimming all night, people coming between 1 to 4am. What an effort to raise funds for those who really needed it.
Okay, so when you join these two things together, i didn't get to have enough sleep between them. Cool huh?
But i am still alived here, writing these fun things down here!!!WOOHOO!!
Ha, don't worry people, i am still alive.
hey hey..i have new blog d!! http://jovialjune.blogspot.com =)
